More than 20 years of helicopter experience in Mid-Norway

A short history, our principles and our operating philosophy.

About Midtnorsk Helikopterservice

Midtnorsk Helikopterservice has roots going back to 2002, when the helicopter operation was established in Verdal. The company started small, with one helicopter and a small organisation, and received its first operational approval from the Norwegian Civil Aviation Authority the same year.

The reindeer husbandry industry was among the first customers, and assignments for reindeer herding became an important part of the business during the early years. This gave the company early experience with demanding helicopter operations in areas where weather, terrain and local conditions place high demands on both pilot and equipment.

Over the years the business has developed gradually. From the original activity with a single helicopter, Midtnorsk Helikopterservice has built a broader operation and a stable customer base in both the private and public sectors. Today the company carries out passenger transport, sightseeing, cargo flying, power line and infrastructure work, inspection assignments, photo and film work and other specialised helicopter missions.

The company's main base is at Verdal Helicopter Airport, Slottelid, where it has developed its own facilities for operational and technical activities. Local roots have been important throughout the company's history, and many years of operations in Trøndelag have given considerable experience with local weather, terrain and operating conditions.

From a small local operator to an established helicopter company

Although the business has developed since the start, Midtnorsk Helikopterservice has wanted to keep many of the advantages of being a smaller helicopter company.

Short decision lines, personal contact with customers and a high degree of operational flexibility have been central elements ever since the company was founded. The customer works closely with the people who actually plan and carry out the assignment, which makes it possible to find solutions adapted to each individual need.

Through more than 20 years of helicopter operations, the company has gained experience from a large number of different assignments. This experience is an important part of the company's expertise and forms the basis for how the business is run today.

Our operating philosophy

Our philosophy is basically simple: we will find good solutions for the customer and carry out the assignment in a professional, efficient and safe manner.

The helicopter is a flexible working tool, but helicopter operations are at the same time affected by weather, terrain, load, landing sites and a range of other operational conditions. Good planning and experience are therefore essential.

For us, safe operation means knowing both the possibilities and the limitations. Our pilots must have the room they need to make sound operational judgements and to change the plan when conditions require it. An assignment must never be carried out at the expense of necessary safety margins.

Local knowledge – personal service

Midtnorsk Helikopterservice still wants to be a company that is easy to get in touch with. The customer should be able to explain what needs to be solved and get help from people with practical and operational experience to find the best solution.

The combination of local knowledge, long experience, flexibility and personal service has followed the business since the start in 2002 – and is still an important part of how Midtnorsk Helikopterservice wants to run the company going forward.

More than 20 years of experience – locally rooted, flexible and professional.
